Khadijah’s Love Café

Khadijah is busily cooking dinners for what she hopes will be almost 20 people. She has carefully set up sterno trays along her dining room table. She is preparing turkey wings, parmesan encrusted salmon, fried fish, beef short ribs, baked macaroni and cheese, and collard greens just to name a few. Meals were packed and served with a choice of corn bread or a dinner roll. She named her business “Ken’s Kitchen” after her daughter, Kennedi, and titled the menu, “Soul Food Sundays.” Their slogan is, “We specialize in cooking with love, and want our customers to feel loved and valued.”

I’m B-A-A-A-CK…

Well, that may just have been the longest two weeks of my life.  Moving is never fun, but I’m happy to be in the “center of it all” again.

Summer Is Here

So today summer has officially arrived.  This is when things in the city really start to pop.  Timing is everything, so I just signed a new lease on a little place in East Kensington – so I can maintain a closer look.

Just a couple today, enjoy…

Some From the Far Northeast

I’m really not a fan of the Far Northeast neighborhoods.  Not gritty enough for me, and too tame.  But here are some from a few of the neighborhoods up there.

Storm Coming

Been a few days since I could get in front of the “puter”.  Here’s a bunch from all over…

Where the Germans Lived

Germantown is an area in Northwest Philadelphia. Founded by German Quaker and Mennonite families in 1683 as an independent borough, it was absorbed into Philadelphia in 1854.

Philly Yo!

Spring Has Sprung

Nice to be Back

I got yanked out of the city very early this morning and didn’t have much time after getting back, so these two images will have to do for today…

Skimpy Day

I got yanked out of the city very early this morning and didn’t have much time after getting back, so these two images will have to do for today…

Only in Olney

Olney is an interesting neighborhood in Philadelphia. It is roughly bounded by Roosevelt Boulevard to the south, Tacony Creek to the east, Godfrey Avenue to the north, and the railroad right-of-way west of Seventh Street to the west.

Strawberry / Nicetown Dreams

Very short day for me.  Only 2 images to post – a definite deficit – both in terms of “quantity” and “quality” this time around.

Oh well, there is always tomorrow…
